Different implant dentists will use different dental implants – so which one is the best?
It is widely accepted that there are 3 main dental implant companies, Densply (Ankylos)(we predominantly use these implants), Nobel Biocare, and Straumann (Astra).
Other than the companies above, there are lots of lesser knows systems, most of whom copy the implant designs of the main companies.
The lesser known companies will supply dental implants at a fraction of the cost of the main companies… However the system we use gives us a lifetime guarantee on the implant, and the abutment (connector)

Unlike most other systems, the Ankylos dental implant is designed to be placed 1-2mm below the bone level. This may not sound like much, but it is critical to not being able to see the implant through the gum.
With other systems, you can expect the bone around the implant to erode away, and this can make the implant visible. With Ankylos, this almost never happens, because of the special design.
It is the cleanest, which means better results
The Ankylos implant is the only implant in the world that uses something called a Morse-Taper, to help connect the crown to the implant. This Morse Taper is used in Formula 1 cars, to help keep the wheels on!
The advantage of this Morse Taper is that it forms a tight seal, which bacteria cannot get past, and hence, keeps the inside of the implant bacteria free. This is one of the reasons that very little long term bone loss is seen around this implant.
